Obituary

MEEKER, Okla. – William "Wayne" Mitzner, 83, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Harper County Hospital, Buffalo, Okla. He was born Oct. 22, 1933, in Abbyville, the son of Charlie L. and Edith (Detter) Mitzner.

Wayne was a 1951 graduate of Abbyville High School and attended Pittsburg State University. He was a United States Army Veteran and owned and operated his own trucking company.

Wayne is survived by: wife, Deborah Sue Brown; children, Ron (Janet), Shirley Gamble, Rob (Lorene) all of Abbyville, Debra Ehling (Randall) of Hutchinson; brother, Lee of Buhler; sister-in-law, Donna Mitzner of Nickerson; stepchildren, Robert Henderson and Kimberly Burnett, both of Waldron, Ark.; Deborah's brother and sister, John Melton and family, Nancy Gattus and family; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Gene; sister-in-law, Alice Mitzner, and wife Robbie Johnson.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Dale Levering presiding. Burial will follow in Fairview Church Cemetery, Nickerson, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
