William P. "Bill" Owens, 98, died Feb. 12, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 15, 1908, in Emporia, the son of Owen Thomas and Elizabeth Rees Owens. In 1929, he graduated from Emporia High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was business owner of Owens Tractor Implement, Emporia, A & W Restaurants of McPherson and Hutchinson, and the Red Rooster Restaurant, Hutchinson, retiring in 1973
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On May 23, 1930, he married Loretta Agnes Still in Emporia. She died September 1973. He then married Adelaide Darby. She died September 2005.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert and wife Patricia, Hutchinson, and Carl, Hutchinson; a daughter, Caralee Mueller, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Helen Norton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Earnest and Edward Owens.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and Thursday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
