William S. "Sid" Trebilcock Jr., 86, of Hutchinson, died May 2, 2010, at Hester Care Center of Wesley Towers in Hutchinson.
He was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Dodge City, the son of William S. and Dorothy E. Vincent Trebilcock Sr.
He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1941. He worked as an assistant manager for F.W. Woolworth in Fort Collins, and Greeley, Colo. He then went in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, Danville, Ky., Lincoln, Neb., and Spokane, Wash. After the war, he attended and graduated in 1950 from the University Of Nebraska School Of Pharmacy. He moved to Hutchinson in 1952 to work as a pharmacist at Fraese Drug Store. He purchased Fraese Drug Store in 1973, and owned and operated it until it was sold in 1989.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rotary Club, BPOE Lodge No. 453, Kansas Pharmacy Association, American Druggist Association, the University of Nebraska Alumni Association, and was a member of the Reno County Health Department Advisory Board. He served as a consulting pharmacist at Wesley Towers and the Good Samaritan Center, and was a huge Cornhusker football fan.
On Jan. 13, 1957, he married LaVerne Rolfs Wilkens. She died Dec. 7, 1982. He then married Dorothy Smoley on March 10, 1988. She died Aug. 30, 2007.
Survivors include: two sons, Greg Trebilcock, and his wife Marcia, Wichita, and David Wilkens and wife Ione, West Des Moines, Iowa; a grandson, Ian William Trebilcock; and a cousin, Annasteen "Annie" Blackim, Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard, and a sister, Colleen.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 5, 2010, at the First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Stephen Taylor presiding. Mr. Trebilcock will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and the family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
