Obituary

NICKERSON - William E. "Bill" Starr, 91, died Nov. 2, 2005, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.

He was born June 1, 1914, in New York, the son of George and Florence Jung Starr. He grew up in Timken, graduated from Bison High School, in 1931 and attended Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. A Reno County area resident since 1942, he was a payroll/bookkeeper for Krause Plow Co. for 27 years. He retired in 1978.

He belonged to Faith United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

On Jan. 9, 1943, he married Margaret Ellen Macklin at Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, William E. Starr Jr., Manhattan, and Paul Frederick Cecil, Round Rock, Texas; three daughters, Delynn Farr, Abilene, Elizabeth Joan Brown, Nickerson, and Gloria Jean Chadwick, South Hutchinson; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jean Bachman, Mary Alice Krehbiel and Janice Reinhart.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Brent Clayton and the Rev. Dennis Stutzman presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
