Wilma Irene Guffey, 88, died May 16, 2010, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Home, Buhler.

She was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Plainville, the daughter of William Neal Gardner and Ina May Posegate Gardner.

Wilma graduated from Chanute High School and Chanute Junior College. She was a homemaker.

She married Logan C. Guffey on Oct. 28, 1945, in Chanute, Ks. He died Jan. 10, 2010.

Survivors include: a son, John Guffey and wife Manuela Knoll-Guffey, Estes Park, Colo.; daughters, Peggy Rate, M.D., and husband, Robert Rate, M.D., Hutchinson, Cindy Mackay and husband John, Sequim, Wash. and Sunny Jo Gardner- Orbovich and husband Nic, Michigan City, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Gardner, Haslett, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Charles, William and Robert and a sister, Gertrude Weatherholt.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 at her daughter's home, 2221 E 56th, Hutchinson, with Pastor David Rails presiding.

Memorials may be made to the Next Generation Fund, Rocky Mountain Nature Association in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
