Wilma Jean Pennick, 83, died July 20, 2016, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 17, 1932, in Langdon, to Glenn and Faye (Secrest) VanRiper.
On Oct. 21, 1951, she married Barton Ray "Bart" Pennick in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 15, 2013.
Wilma Jean graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1951. She worked as the food service secretary at North Reno Grade School for over 20 years and was a homemaker. Wilma Jean was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Chapel. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, and was very active in her church.
Survivors include: children, Jeff Pennick and wife Brenda, Tracy Schlickau and husband Bruce, all of Hutchinson; and grandchildren, Greg and Sara Schlickau of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Leon VanRiper; and sisters, Luella VanRiper and Esther Stuart.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church, 5512 N. Pennington Road, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeff Goetzinger officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
