Obituary

Wilma A. Stumbo, 97, died Feb. 10, 2015, at Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Dickinson County, Kan., the daughter of William C. and Christina (Sigle) Sandow.

She was a graduate of Hope High School, Hope, Kan. and attended Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. On July 8, 1963, Wilma married Glenn D. Stumbo in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 21, 1970. A retired bookkeeper, Wilma had worked for Dr. Roy Russell, DVM, William Frazier, J.D. Schriner and the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by: stepson, Gary of Bella Vista, Ark.; stepdaughter, Cheryl Lockwood of Hastings, Neb.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Violet Kohrs and Edna Redd; and brothers, Melvin and Alvin Sandow.

Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tyler Vance officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
