Winifred June Chaney "Mama Chaney," 76, died Oct. 22, 2009, at her daughter's home in Hutchinson.

She was born June 12, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., to Hiawatha and Helen Morris Bland.

Winnie grew up in Dodge City, where she graduated from high school. She was a homemaker and worked in the kitchen for USD 308.

In May 1955, she married Roy Theodore Chaney in Hutchinson. He died June 7, 2001.

Survivors include: two sons, Rick, Hutchinson and Ross, Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Andrea Woods and husband Walter, Hutchinson and Tara Chaney, Topeka; brother, Oliver Bland, Dodge City; two sisters, Lois Bland, Dodge City, and Gail Canales, Battle Creek, MI; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, and an infant daughter.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Harold Nelson officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
