Winnifred Iverson Rom Thompson, 98, passed on February 6, 2025, at Hester Care Center- Wesley Towers.  She was born July 30, 1926, to William and Cora (Johnson) Iverson in Pinewood, MN.

Winnie graduated from Bemidji (MN) High School and earned her Bachelor of Teaching from Bemidji State Teachers College.  She taught junior high math and science.On March 1, 1947, she married Wayne F rank Rom. They had three daughters- Gloria, Valerie and Julie.  She later married Darrel Wayne Thompson.  He passed December 4, 2019.Winnie loved to travel and to read biographies.  After moving to Arizona, she loved hiking the desert with friends and playing Scrabble and cards.  Her baking skills were admired.  Her hot buns were famous.

Winnie is survived by: her: daughters, Gloria (Bobhusband) Rom of Los Angeles, Val (Doug) Rom-Hawkins and Julie (Ron) Rom Rom-Kocienski of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Austin Justin and Marta Johnson; step-sons, Roger, Bruce and Siyd; and step-grandchildren, Alanna, Tim, and Dale.

She was preceded in death by:  her: parents and siblings, Alice, Fran, Artie, Vernon, Willard, Clayton, and Helen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3pm on Monday February 10, 2025, at Wesley Towers Evans Chapel- 3709 Asbury Pl, Hutchinson, KS  67502.  Friends may sign the book from 9a-5pm Saturday and Sunday and 9a-1pm Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to KPTS Public Television or Hazel Collier Scholarship at Wesley Towers in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS  67501.
