Obituary

Woodie Arlan Calvin, 70, of Hutchinson, died June 13, 2016, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born July 21, 1945, in Garden City, to Woodrow Wilson and Mildred Pearl (Mcgee) Calvin.

Woodie graduated from Ulysses High School in 1964. He was a machinist and retired from J&J Drainage. Woodie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool.

On March 7, 1970, he married Sondra Lynn "Sandy" Rupert at Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. They shared 46 years of marriage. Woodie is survived by: wife, Sandy of the home; daughter, Michell Yoder and husband Davon of Hutchinson; son, Micheal Calvin of Topeka; grandchildren, Aaron, Jennifer, David Yoder, all of Hutchinson; mother, Mildred McGee of Ulysses; mother-in-law, Dorothy Hartman of Hutchinson; and sisters, Rita Moore and husband Gary of Edmond, Okla., and Shirley Calvin of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main, with Reverend Michael McGuire officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
