Obituary

Yolanda Mary "Lonnie" Shook, resident of Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, died Nov. 8, 2016, at Hester Care, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson. She was born July 30, 1923, in Mishawaka, Ind., the daughter of Steve and Anna Kish.

She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and attended Kansas State University and Emporia State University. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. For a short time Lonnie taught second grade at Morgan Grade School.

Lonnie was ready to join her sweetheart of 59 years; they enjoyed working together at his office, boating, fishing, playing cards, dancing and most of all their many medical seminars in all parts of the world. Africa was their favorite, Budapest, Hungary and Serbia, where she met all of her immediate family whom she had never known or seen before. What a reunion!

Lonnie married Dr. Ross Shook in Angola, Ind., on Oct. 4, 1957. He died Aug. 10, 2010. Survivors include: son, Lyle S. Anderson and wife Rose of Green Valley, Ariz.; stepsons, Randy R. Shook and wife Denise of Denver, Colo., Roger Shook and wife Ellen of Lakewood, Colo.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a private family interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Michael L. McGuire presiding. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Reno County or Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
