Yong C. "Shin" Smith, 72, died April 4, 2014, at Hospice House in Hutch-inson. She was born September 13, 1941, in Seoul, Korea.

On April 15, 1969, she married Karl Smith in Seoul, Korea. He survives. After moving to Hutchinson, Kansas, she worked for the Reno County Courthouse for many years. Shin loved nurturing her flower gardens, crocheting, and was well known for her amazing Korean cooking.

She is survived by: her husband, Karl; son, Jerry Smith; daughters, Lora Smith and husband Russell, and Jan Beaver, all of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Oaknim, James, Nina, Obria, Joelle, China, Shyan, and Savan; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Worthington presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be made to the Omaha Transplant Center, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
