Zayne George McVey, 9, died April 15, 2007, at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

He was born Sept. 9, 1997, in Dallas, the son of Lanny Wayne and Dawn Raquel Gier McVey. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a home schooled-third grader and had attended Pleasantview Academy.

He belonged to Medora Community Bible Church. He was a Jr. Usher, Jr. Candy Store attendant, and a member of the Patch the Pirate kids group, all of the church. He was a sports fan, enjoying basketball and baseball, and was an avid pen collector.

Survivors include: his parents, Lanny and Dawn McVey, of the home; a brother, Brandon, of the home; grandparents, Mac and Barbara McVey and George and Patty Gier, all of Hutchinson; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousin, and friends.

A celebration of Zayne's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crestview Bible Church with Pastor Wayne Johnson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family requests casual dress, including your favorite team attire.
