BUHLER - Zella Arndt, 78, died Sept. 3, 2012, at Buhler Sunshine Home. She was born Dec. 27, 1933, to Howard and Alice Hoskinson Bridgman on the family farm six miles south of Burrton, Kan.
Zella and her sister, Gynetha, attended Star School and graduated from Burrton High School together, in 1951.
On Dec. 19, 1954, Zella married John Kirkpatrick. On July 16, 2003, she married Clarence Arndt in Emporia, Kan. Clarence passed away March 23, 2009.
Zella retired in 1998 from Horizons Mental Health Center as an admissions clerk after 14 years of service.
Zella is survived by: three brothers, Elmer "Bud" Bridgman and his wife Mary of Burrton, Glen Bridgman and his wife Charon of Hutchinson, and Ben Bridgman and his wife Donna of Garden City; two sisters, Carmen Evans of Inman and Inez Bellin of Mt. Hope; brother-in-law, Warren Chain of Guymon, Okla.; 20 nieces and nephews. Zella was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gynetha Chain; brothers-in-law, Freddie Evans and Richard Bellin.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, rural Burrton, with Pastor Mike Graber officiating. A fellowship meal will follow at the church. The family requests no flowers be sent.
