Obituary

Zeph Fisher, 93, died in peace at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born into this earthly life on March 9, 1918, and graduated to his eternal life in Heaven on Sept. 22, 2011. Zeph, the son of Adlai Euclid Fisher and Mabel Clare Moore Fisher, was born in Haven, Kan.

He graduated from Haven High School in 1936 and then attended the University of Kansas. He married Kathryn Hilton on March 30, 1946, at First Baptist Church in Hutchinson. She died May 28, 2005. He was the retired owner and president of Leech Products Inc. Zeph was a member of First Baptist Church, the church choir, the Reno Choral Society, the Salt Minors Barbershop Chapter and was very well-known for singing at thousands of weddings, funerals and special events throughout his career. One of his many joys was to share his faith through the gift of music with his wife and family.

He is survived by: his sons, Doug and his wife Suzi of Hutchinson, and Steve of Sylmar, Calif.; his daughter, Lynette Tompkins and husband Gregg of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Phyliss Fankhouser of Port Angeles , Wash.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Zeph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathryn; a daughter-in-law, Jan Fisher; two brothers; and a sister.

His graduation service and time of celebration will be at First Baptist Church, Eighth and Main, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, with Pastors Bob Shelton and Tyler Vance officiating. Friends may call at Elliott Mortuary from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. His burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.
